2012 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign
Campaign 2012
Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited ten-week fundraising competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Man & Woman of the Year" titles by raising funds for blood cancer research. Our exciting 2012 campaign will start with a Kick Off in mid-February. The fundraising competition will culminat with a celebration of everyone's efforts at the Grand Finale on Thursday, April 26th at the Ritz-Carlton, with dinner, drinks, and exciting live & silent auctions. In 2011, candidates raised more than $14.5 million nationally for blood cancer research and patient services! The Candidates
Man & Woman of the Year candidates are extraordinary individuals from both the social and business communities. They come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. But they also have characteristics in common: They are all compassionate and relentless in their desire to find cures for blood cancers.

"I began my campaign knowing how my life had been affected by blood cancer through the loss of my father. I ended my campaign overwhelmed by how pervasive these cancers are. Nearly everyone I talked to has been affected in some way - either through a family member or friend. It is an honor to be a part of something much greater than myself." Gail Chellis |
The Reason
Although someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer every four minutes, there is great hope for the future. LLS is the world's largest national voluntary health organization dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improving the quality of life of patients and families.
"The most exciting thing about the campiagn is meeting new people, reconnecting with old colleagues and friends and just having a good time supporting a great cause." Aaron Mottern
2010 Gateway Chapter Candidate
