The Indianapolis Boy & Girl of the Year

The Boy & Girl of the Year are local children battling blood cancers who serve as motivation and inspiration to Indianapolis Man & Woman of the Year candidates in their competition to raise funds and win the titles.

Roman, now 6 years old, was diagnosed with ALL, the most common form of childhood leukemia, on November 5, 2007.  His family is proud to report that he is currently in remission!

Roman has an older sister, Isabella, and a younger brother, Hudson.  He enjoys playing video games, going to movies, playing with friends and swimming.  He and his family are honored to serve as the 2012 Boy of the Year and look forward to meeting and getting to know the candidates. 

Roman's words of inspiration for the candidates are, "Keep up the good work. Stay positive!"


Girl of the Year

Megan, now 16, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on February 26, 2009, and after 2 1/2 years of treatment she completed chemotherapy on June 16, 2011.

Megan has one brother, Kyle, and a pet dog, Bailey.  She enjoys scuba diving, volleyball, yearbook and photography.  She is very excited to be the 2012 Girl of the Year and looks forward to getting more involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  

Megan's word of inspiration for the candidates are, "Your illness may be a part of you; it may shape you, but it does not define you."
