• More than 1 million Americans are living with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.  Every four minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.  Every 10 minutes, someone dies.  Funds raised through Man & Woman of the Year support the research, patient services and advocacy activities of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
• The LLS has invested more than $814 million in research; over $76.6 million in fiscal year 2011 alone.  Research funded by LLS has led to advances in treatments such as chemotherapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation and new targeted oral therapies like Gleevec®. 
• Each year we serve more than 1,100  patients who live in Indiana.  Our services include information and referral, support groups, peer connections, education programs and patient financial aid.  We connect patients and their families with medical experts through Webcasts, teleconferences and seminars.
• With more than 56,000 advocacy volunteers throughout the country, our voice is being heard by those responsible for legislation to fund blood cancer research and education programs and to improve American?s access to quality cancer care.
