LLS is recruiting now for the 2017 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign!
The Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign is a spirited fundraising competition in communitites across the U.S. in which participants build fundraising teams to compete for the title of Man or Woman of the Year. We're seeking individuals who are competitive, goal-oriented, ambitious & passionate about curing cancer. This spring, 25 candidates will compete over a 10 week time period and raise more than $570,000 for research and patient assistance. Winners are featured in national & local publications and on a prominently placed Kansas City Billboard!
Do you have what it takes???
How candidates fundraise
Candidates fundraise through letter writing, online fundraising, sponsorship and events. Chapter staff support each candidate through goal planning and serve as fundraising consultants.
Through programs like Man & Woman of the Year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been able to invest more than $1 billion in research to advance breakthrough therapies. In fact, almost half of the new anti-cancer drugs approved by the U.S. FDA from 2000-2013 were originally designed to treat blood cancers, and LLS helped advance most of them.
The funds raised through LLS's Man & Woman of the Year are used:
* For continuing research of lifesaving therapies like targeted therapies and immunotherapies that are saving thousands of lives.
* For blood cancer information, education and support.
* To support patients in their communities through LLS chapters.
* To drive policies that increase development of and access to new treatments. Interested in competing in the 2017 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign? Contact Mackenzie Kautzi, Campaign Director at 913-262-1515 or email@example.com
