The Mid-America Chapter Southwest Missouri
2012 Man & Woman of the Year campaign has officially begun!
The Mid-America Chapter of LLS is proud to announce the return of The Man & Woman of the Year campaign to southwest Missouri! The question on everyone's mind is who, among our candidates, will be the male and female candidate to raise the most funds for LLS in a ten-week period? Our campaign officially kicked-off on March 22nd, and everyone had a fantastic time during our Kick-Off party t The Diamond Room. We've already got some fantastic candidates committed to the 2012 campaign, and you can meet them by clicking our "Meet the Candidates" link to the left... you might see a familiar face or two. Now is the time to "vote" for your favorite candidate by making an online donation. Be sure to check the candidates' pages often--as they used to say, vote early and vote often!
Thanks to the following candidates for joining us in 2012:
- Arana Arth, Mercy Clinic-Cancer & Hematology
- Dr. Garry Brown, Central Care Cancer Center
- Seth Elliott, Parlor 88 Lounge
- Dr. Gil Fernandez, CoxHealth Center of Rogersville
- Katie Kennington Vance, In Memory of "Daddy"--Robert Estes Kennington II

And don't forget to visit the Calendar of Events often for the latest candidate fundraising events and activities. There's something for everyone!
Do you have what it takes?
Candidates who run for the title of Man & Woman of the Year are a select group of community and business leaders who use their networking and leadership skills in a ten-week competition to raise the most funds. Each dollar raised counts as one vote, so the man and woman who raise the most funds by the end of our Grand Finale Gala on June 7th will be crowned the winners. In an unconventional but fun twist, this campaign is "blind"; at no point does any candidate know how much the others have raised. This adds to the anticipation at our Grand Finale event, where live and silent auction items help raise the candidates' final totals.
Many of our candidates run in honor of a loved one who passed from or is a survivor of blood cancer; some candidates are survivors themselves. Candidates are often members of the healthcare community who know all too well the ongoing need for advances in treatments, medications, and ultimately a cure. All of our candidates run in honor of our Boy & Girl of the Year, patients and survivors themselves who have come to exemplify strength and courage in the battle against blood cancer. You can meet this year's honored patients, Ethan and Emma Grace, by clicking the Boy & Girl of the Year link on the left.
Regardless of the motivation, we would like to sincerely thank the candidates who have already committed to running this year, and ask you to consider running in 2013, or even nominate someone who would make a great candidate. We officially kick off on March 22nd, and then the clock stops the night of the Grand Finale Celebration, June 7, 2012, when the winners will be announced.
