The 2012 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign

Man & Woman of the Year is a fun and unique ten-week fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The 2012 campaign will officially begin with a Kickoff Celebration in late March, and culminate with the Grand Finale Gala on Friday, June 15th. Watch a short video to learn more.

IT'S AN HONOR
Individuals who are nominated to be a candidate for Man or Woman of the Year have a generous spirit and the will to succeed.  It truly is an honor to be nominated, as there will be just 10-15 candidates in the Twin Cities vying for these prestigious titles.  As an added bonus, candidates will receive many local and national publicity opportunities.  The winners will even receive recognition in USA Today, and in king-size ads on the side of 20 Metro Transit buses!

IT'S EXCITING
Everyone involved with Man & Woman of the Year is surrounded by diverse people, fantastic parties, a dedicated staff, a supportive committee and the opportunity to gain new friends and contacts.  "It was one of the most humbling and gratifying endeavors I have ever been involved in," says Rev. Scott A. Nocton, the 2009 Man of the Year.  "To see the generosity of so many people, and to see the hope it brings to those dealing with a blood cancer is beyond explanation."

At the end of the campaign, all candidates and their supporters will celebrate at a Grand Finale Gala where the top fundraising man and woman will be named the Minnesota Chapter's Man & Woman of the Year!

IT SAVES LIVES
While each candidate will focus on his or her individual campaign, they all are united by one shared goal: to raise as much money as possible to fight blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. They will be motivated and inspired by the Boy & Girl of the Year, two local children who represent the daily and lifelong challenges that a blood cancer diagnosis brings.  Candidates are also encouraged to raise funds in honor of anyone they personally know who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Since it began at the Minnesota Chapter in 2004, Man & Woman of the Year candidates have raised over $1 million to advance the mission of LLS. Simply put, as a candidate for Man & Woman of the Year, you have the opportunity to save lives!
