Dear Friends and Family,
I am honored to say that I am a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year campaign. Many of you already know why I've decided to participate in this year's campaign.
Last May, after coming back from a wonderful family cruise, celebrating our Dad's 80th birthday, my sister Susan was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myloid Leukemia). Feeling completely exhausted and thinking she couldn't shake the flu, she went to the doctor to see about getting an anitbiotic. The doctor did some routine bloodwork just to see what kind of a bug she had and found the preliminary devastating diagnosis. His words were "you need to go see an oncologist, I believe you have leukemia".
Those dreadful words were confirmed...she is currently battling AML Flt 3. Since last June, leaving her home in Florida to come to NY for treatment ... Susan was hospitalized for 6 months and able to leave the hospital only briefly. She underwent 3 rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant that put her into remission for a short period of time...she was finally able to go home. Unfortunately, the cancer returned a month later and brought her back to NY and back in the hospital. Upon her return back, Susan had multiple infections and had gotten grim news. Then, after many prayers, Susan qualified and was selected to start taking a clinical trial drug. We are hoping this drug puts her back into remission. My total motivation is to help raise enough money for drugs like this clinical trial drug to be researched, created and dispensed to help save lives... especially, my sister's life.
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses, and thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund the therapies and treatments that save lives, not someday but today
Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign for Man or Woman of the Year. I am part of team working to raise as much as possible in a 10-week period. Every dollar I raise counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most votes/raises the most money is named the Man or Woman of the Year.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. Please visit my Web site often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
I want to thank you in advance for your generous support.
2017 Woman of the Year candidate
