My name is Tim Hodges and I am running for 2017 Man of the Year for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)! Welcome to my page! Please join me in raising funds and awareness towards blood cancers!
A little about me: I’m currently the deputy police chief for the city of Yonkers, a city I was born and raised in and I spent my life trying to give back to! I was fortunate enough to rise through the ranks of the Yonkers Police Department to the point where I am today. My position as chief allows me to help my fellow man when they are in crisis…and there is no better feeling than that! I am lucky to have a job that I can make a difference daily in the lives of those that need help. Recently I was the head organizer/ fundraiser for the Westchester County Detectives Association golf outing, in which I raised thousands of dollars that will be used towards scholarships. I plan on using the knowledge I gained from that experience towards my campaign with LLS. I believe that my campaign for 2017 Man of the Year will give me the opportunity to reach more people and help them in a completely different way than I’m used to.
This is a cause in which I have a personal connection. I am running in honor of my father whom unfortunately lost his battle to leukemia several years ago. As you could imagine that experience broke my heart and changed me forever. I also lost my best friend to multiple myeloma a few years back. I have witnessed many friends and acquaintances suffer due to blood cancers. Through these experiences I will never be the same! During my campaign I would like to honor these people close to me that were affected by these horrible diseases as well as others I don’t know and let them know they are not alone! Not only will I be raising money to help towards funding medical research for blood cancers but also towards the programs that LLS has that supports patients directly that need the help.
It’s through research that was funded by LLS and companies like them that we have already come such a long way in the field of blood cancers! People are living longer, and we are gradually finding better treatments, but we still have a long way to go! During my fundraising campaign I vow to not only raise funds but also to promote education and raise awareness… because after all “Some Day is Today”.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
