The Home Stretch!

May 03, 2013
by Adam Carter

I can't believe how fast this 10 week campaign has gone. This has been an incredible experience. My favorite part, without question, has to been to see the selfless generosity of so many people. Even complete strangers have made generous donations while sharing stories and connections of people who've battled blood cancer. Donations in celebration of someone who's survived, donations in honor of someone who's fighting, and donations in memory of someone who lost the battle.

That's why I fight. In memory of someone who lost the battle, and in hopes that fewer and fewer people will lose to blood cancer.

It's not too late to help!

There are still many ways you can help. The easiest is to simply make a donation to my cause. Any amount helps! $5, $10, $20, or more.

You can join me at the Grand Finale Celebration at the trendy and swank Graves 601 Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis May 17th. Tickets are $100 a piece, and that ticket price goes to my total. You must RSVP by Friday May 10th. You can purchase tickets right here on this page. (look over at the top right, by the donation button)

You can buy a VIP table at the Grand Finale, which includes a table of 10, and a sponsorship of the celebration. The cost is $1,500 and again, the cost goes to my total.

You can purchase a raffle ticket for the Grand Finale. The top prize is $2,500 and the second prize is a Wall of Wine! Raffle tickets are $50 a piece, and you need not be present to win. Send me a message on Facebook if you want one ore more, or just shoot me and email at acarter@cbs.com.

At the start of this campaign, I said it's not about me, and that raising the money is the important thing. While that is still true, I've got the competitive bug! I want to win! Not only for me, but for all the lives we are affecting by raising money for such a worthy cause. Will you help me?

May Day Match!

Apr 30, 2013
by Adam Carter

It's the home stretch of my Man of the Year campaign, and as I continue toward my goal, we are getting a big boost from another anonymous donor! That individual has contacted me and offered a $500 match to donations made on Wednesday, May 1st. All donations made on May Day will be matched up to $500! #MayDayMatch

We did this match thing on April 11th for the start of The Masters, and it was a huge success!

So here's the thing: I know many of you reading this have ALREADY donated to my campaign (some of you have donated TWICE!) Thank you! But maybe you can reach out to a family member, or a coworker. $5, $10, $20 or more! It ALL helps!

I know it's not easy to ask for money, but you'd be surprised how many people will respond, considering how many lives have been touched by cancer. I know I continue to be overwhelmed by the stories and connections I hear about. Every dollar goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research into cures, assistance for families of blood cancer patients, and so much more!

Please help! Someday we WILL find a cure for blood cancer, and SOMEDAY IS TODAY!

On a personal note, it was six months ago today we lost Justin Crane. He is the reason I have picked up this cause, and I will always be RELENTLESS for a cure. It's all for Justin.

Thanks for your consideration, and if you can't donate, please spread the word.

Beers for Cures a Major Success

Apr 29, 2013
by Adam Carter

I took a gamble that my friends, and friends of friends, would want to get together and drink beer. Boy, did they ever! Our "Beers for Cures" event at Halftime Rec was a great success! I'd give the total amount raised, but we're supposed to keep our totals "close to the vest" out of the spirit of competition for the Man of the Year campaign.

Needless to say, it exceeded my expectations. And it couldn't have happened without the help of so many people. I owe tremendous amounts of gratitude to Kim Eccles, Chad Eccles, Lisa Wojtowicz, Tricia Heibel, Carrie Montgomery, Phil Pietruszewski, Bob Brandecker, Jamie Brandecker, Mickey Tierney, and my wife Heidi (although I owe Heidi so much already, and she knows this.)

I also want to give a HUGE thank you to Scott Mars and the folks at Halftime Rec. They were so accommodating and helpful!

I am now on the "home stretch" for my campaign, and even though it's crunch time, there are a couple more things in the works, so stay tuned. (HINT: The "Masters Match" was such a success, and another "anonymous donor" has come forward. Watch for another "Match Day" real soon.)

Thanks again for helping me in this cause. We are going good work for a great organization. Like Heidi Gusenius from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society told us Saturday, "someday IS today!" We are closer than ever to finding cures for all kinds of blood cancer.

Thanks again! Relentless for a cure!

Join us April 27th for "Beers for Cures!"

Two things I love to do: Raise money to fight and hopefully end blood cancer, and hang out with friends and have a beer. We're combining the two, and it's all for this great cause!

On Saturday, April 27th, we are having "Beers for Cures" at Halftime Rec in St. Paul from 5pm to 8pm.

For $20 in advance (or $30 at the door) you can enjoy the company of old and new friends, and enjoy a few beverages. Plus, there are fantastic silent auction items like a signed authentic Pavel Datsyuk Detroit Red Wings jersey, an autorgraphed photo of Vikings QB Christian Ponder, facials, botox, and much more!!

And it is Minnesota after all, so we'll have a good old fashioned meat raffle! And music too!

Here are all the details on the Facebook page.

To RSVP, send an email to Kim Eccles at ckjeccles@hotmail.com. You can pre-purchase your tickets by sending me a check (made out to LLS) to 1018 Summit Avenue, SSP, 55075. Or you can donate here on this page and just make sure you identify that you're paying for your ticket(s) in the comment section. Again, $20 per person in advance.

This is going to be a lot of fun, and every dollar we raise goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where it funds new treatments, and helps the families of people battling blood cancer!

Hope to see you the 27th! Relentless for a cure!!!

Masters Match Day this Thursday!

Apr 08, 2013
by Adam Carter

Thursday begins the greatest four days of golf, The Masters! In honor of the golf tournament (not really, but it's just a good day to pick), I have an incredible opportunity to raise a lot of cash for LLS, and help save lives!

A donor has approached me and stated that he/she will MATCH ALL DONATIONS made on Thursday, April 11th, up to $500. It's an easy way to make at least $1000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and help me become MAN OF THE YEAR!

A huge thank you to the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Even if you've already donated, maybe you can help me out Thursday by raising a few bucks on your own. Just ask a few people at your office! EVERY DOLLAR HELPS!

Donate online here, or mail me a check made out to LLS to 1018 Summit Avenue, SSP, MN 55075. (Write in the memo that it's for Masters Match Day!)

Thank you to everyone who has donated, or spread the word! This has been an incredible experience so far, mainly because of the generosity of others.

ONE MORE THING! Save the date of April 27th! We are having an event at Halftime Rec in St. Paul. "Beers for Cures" will be a chance to get together and raise some money for LLS. We'll have silent auction items, a meat raffle, as well as a lot of fun all for a good cause! (Click the link for details) $20 for advance tix, or $30 at the door.

Someday is Today! Relentless for a Cure!
