MILES FOR MILLIONS
2017 Candidate for LLS Man of the Year
Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign as a Candidate for Man or Woman of the Year. I am part of the Miles for Millions team working to raise $50,000 over a 10-week fundraising campaign in honor of Devan Tatlow, Susanna Hardee, and all of those who have fought so courageously for their lives while battling blood cancer.
Too often we take the little things in life for granted and complain about the insignificant. Most of us look back on our childhood with a sense of innocence, ease, and fondness. For children like Devan Tatlow and Susanna Hardee, childhood was anything but east. Devan was diagnosed with leukemia at 20 months old and after 2 1/2 years of remission he was re-diagnosed with leukemia at 4 years old. Devan has beaten leukemia TWICE now, but his journey was not an easy one. His various treatments included stem cell transplants, brain surgery, a bone marrow transplants, and over 15 months of daily Chemotherapy. Susanna shares a similar story, after being diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 7, she required a bone marrow transplant to combat this disease. The courage and strength, both of these children and many other cancer-affected children embody is astounding. Many of us will never know the pain, discomfort, or strength required to fight for one's own life. You can do your part by joing the fight today.
But as you know, everyone wins when cancer loses, and thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund the therapies and treatments that save lives, not someday but today.
Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Did you know...
Every 3 minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes someone dies.
88 cents of every dollar donated for this campaign is devoted towards research, patient services, education, and advocacy. That is almost 14% higher than the national average. Cancer somehow affects all of us and LLS is leading the way.
Almost half of all new cancer related therapies approved by the FDA between 2000 and 2012 were first approved for blood cancer patients.
Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Please visit my Web site often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
