What time is it? It's Miller Time! Join me as we continue the fight for a world without blood cancer!
I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help the more than one million Americans who are living with blood cancers. When approached by the leadership team, it was with great enthusiam that I accepted the nomination to be a 2017 Woman of the Year candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man & Woman of the Year campaign! For those of you who are not familiar with the Man & Woman of the Year campaign, it is an exciting 10-week fundraising challenge for LLS. The Man and Woman that raise the most funds over the course of the campaign earn the title of Man and Woman of the Year! I’m hoping that you will not only help me beat the competition, but to also give me a boost to reach my goal of raising $100K in 10 weeks.
Blood cancer research is not only making a difference for those I know personally that have been affected by the disease, but also for those fighting against other types of cancer and autoimmune diseases. LLS supported therapies that not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day. Having been personally impacted by the ravages of cancer, I am dedicating my efforts to my uncle Max who passed away from pancreatic cancer, and my aunt Mary, a breast cancer survivor.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children, adolescents, and young adults under the age of 20. This year, we are raising money in honor of the Boy and Girl of the Year: Susanna Hardee and Devan Tatlow, two blood cancer survivors. Do not let future generations of children become a statistic, help them with the opportunity to live a full and happy life.
