TOGETHER, WE CAN FUND THE CURE. AND SAVE LIVES.
Every 9 minutes, someone in the US dies from a blood cancer—that’s roughly 160 people each day or more than six people every hour.
I am committed to funding research to find a cure.
And I’m asking you to join me.
THE CAMPAIGN: I am honored to be nominated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) 2017 Man or Woman of the Year campaign. As part of the program, teams across the country compete to raise as much money as possible for LLS in a 10-week period.
MY CHARGE. I am leading a team working to raise funds and save lives—all tax-deductible donations fund LLS research, as well as patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
MY MOTIVATION. Thousands of people benefit from LLS: Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are saving thousands of lives every day.
MY INSPIRATION. Katie Connor is someone you’d love to get to know: She has an infectious laugh, an amazingly positive outlook on life, and a diehard passion for all things Cleveland. Katie is my sister-in-law and one of the strongest people I know: Three years ago, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma at age 32. Katie fought hard, she beat cancer and got healthy enough to conceive and become a mom. But today, with 14-month-old Luke running circles around her, Katie is battling bladder cancer.
I’m thankful for the research, drugs and medical advances that saved Katie’s life, and that brought a new life into this world. But Katie still has a big fight in front of her. So, I’m joining with her: I’m humbled to lead my campaign team in Katie’s name.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD: Reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to share the mission of LLS, endorse my campaign and ask for their support. Simply copy and paste this URL and send out via twitter, text, or facebook—these are simple ways you can help. It’s through extended networks that we will be most successful and that the ultimate goal of increasing awareness for LLS will be achieved.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
