Welcome to my Man of the Year home page!
One year ago I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and the following six months were the toughest battle of my life as I went through a very difficult and challenging treatment. It tested not only my physical, but mental strength as well. I have been an avid runner for many years and during that time have helped to raise funds for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Team in Training (TNT) to fight blood cancer. 13 days after my diagnosis, I ran the 2012 NYC Half Marathon, and less than 24 hours later began my chemotherapy treatments. A few weeks ago I received my six-month post treatment all-clear scan, which coincidentally was exactly one year to the day of my diagnosis, and to celebrate my victory over Hodgkin’s disease, ran the 2013 NYC Half Marathon.
Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Every dollar I raise counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most votes /raises the most money is named the Man of the Year.
LLS's continued advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
Some quick stats to see how your donation will help LLS:
- $2,000 provides financial assistance for four New York families touched by blood cancers.
- $500 provides a one-year stipend for a patient to use for co-pays or treatment transportation.
- $200 provides funding for one year of a Family Support Group Program.
- $100 covers the cost of one tissue typing test used to identify a bone marrow donor.
- $50 covers the cost of one CT scan.
- $25 covers the cost of prescription co-pay.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Click here to see if your company will match your donation.
Please visit Life Hiccup often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
