Welcome to Jared Kneitel's MWOY Fundraising Page!

Mar 20, 2017

Greetings!

I'm so glad that you found this page. This means that someone told you about our fundraising efforts and all that we are doing to raise awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Thank you so much for your interest, kindness, and generosity.

If you haven't met me before, you may be wondering who I am and why I would choose to put myself through this massive ordeal of wholly dedicating myself to fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for ten weeks.

The short answer is: I have that choice.

I've been donating money and raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since 2005. My then-girlfriend, was training for a marathon with Team In Training. I learned first-hand that TNT is a great program. In exchange for raising funds for LLS, you get coached in an endurance event such as a marathon, half-marathon, cycling event, triathlon, and, these days, even hiking up to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

This was the first time that I had ever heard about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. And I only had a vague notion about what leukemia and lymphoma even were. And I certainly had no idea that one could have cancer of the blood.

Fast forwarding a decade, I have personally raised money for LLS over the last six years and, through TNT, have competed in the NYC marathon and dozens of triathlons including a full Ironman.

So what does this have to do with why I said yes to running as a candidate for Man of the Year? Choice.

I choose to raise money for LLS. I choose to put myself out there and ask (annoy) friends and family for money for LLS. I choose to put my body through punishment while preparing for a race. I choose to learn about leukemia, lymphoma, and other types of blood cancer. I choose to give my heart when team-mates and friends share their stories about their illnesses and their loved ones' illnesses. I choose to spread awareness about blood cancer. I choose to request people to register for the blood marrow registry.

I choose because I have a choice.

When someone gets diagnosed with cancer, they do not choose to be diagnosed with cancer. Especially the kids. They do not have a choice.

Cancer doesn't care who it chooses.

I choose to care about who cancer chooses.

I choose to use my health, strength, dedication, and passion to help friends and strangers who had their choice taken away from them.

For those of us that are healthy, this choice is available to us every day of the week that ends in "day." If you're reading this, somehow, someway, you were led to this moment when you too can make a choice. I hope you'll join our "All In For LLS" team and choose to make a contribution to our cause.

We know that many people have the mindset that "someday, someone will do something about that."

Well, for us, someday is today, and we are that someone. Please join us, make a donation, and be that someone too.

Thank you so much for your choice - whether you've made a donation or not. At the very least we've empowered you with choice. And please spread the word about our cause and campaign.

Please visit our team fundraising page at allinforlls.org for information on products, events, and our campaign.

With my sincerest and most heartfelt thanks,

Jared
