My Personal Hero!

Today is the day that all of the candidates have been waiting for. Today is marks the official kick off of the LLS Man and Woman of the Year campaign. For the next 10 weeks we are all campaigning and fundraising for a mutual cause and a mutual fight that for some of us is truly personal.
This year we have the honor of campaigning for 2 of the bravest souls I have ever met. This years Boy and Girl of the Year, Dylan Conboy and Rachael Murray.
Both Dylan, age 5, and Rachael, age 17, have recently completed treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma respectively.
Please take the time to read both of their amazing stories, and to put faces on 2 local children that have been affected by LLS.

One person in the United Stated is diagnosed with a blood cancer every four minutes; new cases of Leukemia, Lymphoma, and myeloma will account for nine percent of the 1,596,670 new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year.
Those staggering statistics are a sad reality that, unfortunately many of us have faced or are facing. Not only am I watching someone I love, my cousin Maggie Zeoli-Delvalle fight the battle; I have also watched someone I love fight the battle and lose after only 21 short days. To know the heartache and pain endured in this fight is one of the many reasons I am proud and excited to be campaigning for the LLS Woman of the Year!
It has been my honor and pleasure to work closely with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society over the years, so when this opportunity arose, there was no hesitation! I know if given the chance, all of us would do what we could to never see our loved ones suffer and we would be on the forefront of that battle ground fighting this battle not only with them, but for them!
My goal in becoming the LLS Woman of the Year is to bring to light better education, better resources and a brighter spotlight to the area of research and medicine to help those in need now and in the future!
Each dollar you contribute counts toward my personal campaign. No dollar is amount is too big or too small and quite literally, every penny counts!
There are several ways you can make your contribution and help fund this amazing organization and help me achieve my goals of becoming LLS Woman of the Year:
You can also visit the LLS Man/Woman of the Year website at www.mwoy.org/uny to make your personal contribution. While visiting the website, you can read about the Boy/Girl of the year, review and read about becoming a sponsor, or purchase tickets to the Grand Finale Celebration on May 10, 2013. It all counts towards my goal.
Of course, time is vital, as I only have ten weeks to campaign and make my platform heard to become the LLS Woman of the Year, and I am hoping that all of you can help me reach that goal!
Every ten minutes someone loses their battle with a blood cancer, and with your help, I want to better those odds and change the statistics!
Thank you all for your support and generosity!
XOXO
Gabby
