To my family, friends, and supporters:
I am honored to tell you that I am running as a candidate for LLS Man & Woman of the Year, a ten-week national campaign to raise funding for blood cancers. Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation* to my fundraising campaign. I am part of team working to raise as much as possible and every dollar I raise counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most votes (raises the most money), is named the Man or Woman of the Year. I can do it with your help!
LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, finding cures, and ensuring access to treatments for anyone who needs them. Since 1949, LLS has been able to create over 300 active research projects which have saved thousands of lives. As someone who is currently fighting leukemia, access to chemotherapy medication is possible because of the great work that the society does in discovering ways for myself, and people like me, to live with this disease – the five-year survival rate for blood cancer patients has more than tripled for this exact reason.
After learning of my leukemia diagnosis two years ago, it was impossible for me to turn down this amazing opportunity. I continue to fight every day for my family, my friends, and especially my two children. Along with the many other candidates, I will be raising funds for this campaign in support of LLS’s Upstate NY/Vermont Chapter Boy & Girl of the Year. Let me introduce you to Anthony Yevoli diagnosed at 19 who is now 20, attending SUNY Cobleskill and playing lacrosse. Abby Sayles diagnosed at 3, is now 5, attending kindergarten and loving to dance and play soccer. They are both in remission!
Will you fight alongside Anthony, Abby and me? I need your help to fund more research. Your help to discover more treatments. Your help to save more lives. I ask you to please join me in this fight to eliminate blood diseases.
Please visit my webpage often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Someday isn’t tomorrow, it isn’t next week, and it isn’t next year. Someday is today.
My sincerest thanks,
Maureen Cole, LLS Man & Woman of the Year Candidate
*All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
