Join Us For The Virginia Chapter
2016 Man & Woman Of The Year Campaign

2015 candidate class

What

Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited ten-week competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Man & Woman of the Year" titles by raising funds for blood cancer research.  The candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Nationally in 2015, LLS's Man & Woman of the Year campaign raised over $32.5 million for research and patient services.  On March 13, 2016, the Virginia Chapter will launch its campaign, during which 12+ candidates from around the state will raise funds and compete for the Virginia title of Man or Woman of the Year.

Who

Candidates for Man & Woman of the Year are extraordinary people! Part of an elite group hand-selected by a team of LLS supporters, they share an incredible drive and compassion for others. Candidates are dynamic individuals who are well-connected in their communities and are relentless in their efforts to find cures for blood cancers. The campaign garners media attention both locally and nationally through digital, print, on-air & social media.

Grand Finale Gala

Sponsors, candidates, campaign teams, friends, family, survivors, and other LLS supporters will gather for the announcement of the Man & Woman of the Year at a celebration that includes cocktails, a seated dinner, and live and silent auctions. This year's Gala, "An Evening with the Stars," will be held in the newly renovated Altria Theater on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
